‘Ramayana’ opens to huge start in India

Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana: Part 1’, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, has opened strongly at the Indian box office, collecting Rs.64.85 crore nett on its first day.

Released in cinemas on Thursday (5th November), the mythological epic recorded an estimated Rs.77.50 crore gross in India, according to box office tracker Sacnilk. The film was screened across approximately 25,200 shows in multiple languages.

The Hindi version led the collections with Rs.47.50 crore nett, while the Kannada version contributed Rs.7.25 crore. The Telugu version collected Rs.6 crore, followed by Tamil at Rs.2.60 crore and Malayalam at Rs.1.50 crore.

The opening makes ‘Ramayana’ one of the biggest Hindi film openers of 2026, although it remains below the Rs.100 crore India nett mark initially anticipated by some trade observers.

The film’s performance over the opening weekend will be important in determining its box office trajectory, particularly with the Diwali period approaching.

Directed by Tiwari, ‘Ramayana: Part 1’ features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana, alongside Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey, Lara Dutta and Vivek Oberoi.
