Badshah and Shreya Ghoshal collaborate for romantic single ‘Mahiya’
Badshah and Shreya Ghoshal have joined forces for a new romantic single titled ‘Mahiya’, featuring actress Avneet Kaur.
Describing the collaboration as two musical universes coming together, Badshah said the track brings together his urban sound with Shreya’s vocals to tell a love story.
“Everyone knows Shreyaji as the queen of romance, and our camaraderie on the Indian Idol set has always been incredible. But taking that energy into the studio for this track was an entirely different experience,” he said.
Badshah has composed and written the song, with music production by Hiten. The track marks a different musical direction for the rapper, who explores a romantic sound.
Shreya said the studio collaboration had been long overdue, following their time together as judges on ‘Indian Idol’.

“Badshah has brought a completely refreshing perspective to ‘Mahiya’. The track beautifully blends intense emotion with contemporary arrangements, and I think fans are going to love this side of him,” she said.
Avneet Kaur features in the music video, directed by choreographer duo Piyush and Shazia. She described being part of the project as a special experience, having grown up listening to Shreya’s music and following Badshah’s work.
