Mika Singh defends Daler Mehndi after minister alleges singer was drunk at Uttarakhand event
Mika Singh has defended his brother Daler Mehndi after Uttarakhand minister Subodh Uniyal accused the singer of being drunk during a performance at a cultural event.
The incident took place at the Siddhpeeth Maa Kunjapuri Tourism and Development Fair in Tehri district on 18th October. Video footage of the confrontation subsequently circulated on social media.
During the performance, Uniyal reportedly walked on stage and questioned Daler’s singing, alleging that the singer was unable to perform properly because he was intoxicated. The minister also questioned the reported fee of ₹35 lakh for the appearance, alongside travel and accommodation expenses.
Mika responded to the controversy defending his brother and insisting that Daler does not consume alcohol. He challenged those making the allegation to provide evidence and suggested that his brother may have been unwell following a recent serious operation.
Mika also said Daler had not wanted him to issue a statement, but he chose to speak out in his defence.
Daler has yet to publicly respond to the incident.
