Badshah apologises after controversy over ‘Tateeree’ song

Badshah has apologised after his Haryanvi track ‘Tateeree’ sparked controversy over its lyrics and music video.

The song faced criticism shortly after its release, with several groups alleging that some lyrics contained vulgar double meanings and were disrespectful towards women. The music video also drew backlash for scenes featuring girls in school uniforms dancing to the track, which critics described as inappropriate.

The controversy escalated when complaints were filed in Haryana, prompting police to register a First Information Report (FIR) against the singer under sections related to obscenity and the alleged indecent representation of women. The Haryana State Commission for Women also sought an explanation from Badshah regarding the song’s lyrics and visuals.

As the criticism intensified, the rapper removed ‘Tateeree’ from YouTube and other streaming platforms. In a public statement, Badshah said he never intended to offend anyone and expressed regret over the hurt caused by the song.

“I sincerely apologise to anyone whose sentiments have been hurt,” he said, adding that he respects the concerns raised by the public.
