‘Ramayana’ English version to be edited down by 30-minutes
‘Ramayana’ is reportedly preparing different theatrical versions for Indian and international audiences, with the English-language release expected to run approximately 30-minutes shorter than the Hindi version.
According to Variety India, the makers are planning a streamlined edit for overseas markets, removing songs and trimming selected scenes to create a more concise viewing experience for global audiences.
A source quoted in the report said the decision reflects differing audience preferences across territories. While Indian viewers are accustomed to longer theatrical presentations featuring song sequences, the producers believe an alternate cut will better suit international markets.
The report notes that the songs are not integral to the progression of the narrative and are primarily intended to enhance the cinematic experience for Indian audiences. As a result, the Hindi and other Indian-language versions are expected to retain the musical segments, which will reportedly be promoted extensively ahead of release.

The move underlines the producers’ ambition to position ‘Ramayana’ as a global theatrical event rather than a conventional domestic release. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, the epic stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana and Sunny Deol as Hanuman.
