‘Ramayana’ trailer gets a U certificate as the makers prepare two approved cuts
The makers of Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Ramayana’ have cleared a major promotional milestone, with the film’s first trailer officially granted a U certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification. The approval covers two separate cuts, a 4‑minute‑15‑second version and a slightly shorter theatrical cut, both authorised for universal viewing ahead of the film’s large‑scale marketing rollout.
Industry sources say the certification was issued on 15 July, allowing the team to proceed with its planned 24 July trailer launch. The unusually long runtime has already sparked curiosity within the trade, with insiders suggesting the trailer will offer a sweeping look at the film’s world, including its mythological scale, character arcs and extensive visual‑effects work. Ranbir Kapoor leads the cast as Lord Ram, with Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash portraying Ravana in what is expected to be one of the year’s most ambitious cinematic releases.
The clearance also confirms that the footage meets universal‑audience standards, a point emphasised by those close to the production. One trade source noted that the team was “keen to ensure the first look reflects the epic’s emotional purity without compromising on scale,” adding that the U certificate gives them “a clean runway for a nationwide and global promotional push.”
