Salman Khan confirms December 2026 release date for ‘Maatrubhumi’

Salman Khan has addressed the repeated delays surrounding his upcoming film ‘Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace’, saying the makers wanted to ensure its visual effects were completed to the required standard.

Speaking to the media in Mumbai on Friday, Salman said the team did not want viewers to scrutinise individual scenes and criticise the VFX.

He said, “Today, there are a lot of VFX experts out there who examine each and every shot of a film. So, with this film, we don’t want to give anyone an opportunity to zoom in on a scene and criticise its VFX. We want this film to visually blow everyone’s mind. It is a beautifully shot film.”

The actor also revealed that the production had initially been expected to wrap within 45 to 50 days, but co-star Chitrangda Singh’s injury affected the schedule.

The film was previously expected to release in January, June and subsequently August before being pushed again.

Salman confirmed that ‘Maatrubhumi’ will now arrive in cinemas on 4 December 2026.

Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film is inspired by the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops. It was previously titled ‘Battle of Galwan’ before being renamed ‘Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace’.
