Namit Malhotra hints at ‘Ramayana’ extending to a third instalment

Namit Malhotra reveals two versions of Ramayana: Part 1; hints at possible third instalment

Producer Namit Malhotra has revealed that two different versions of ‘Ramayana: Part 1’ are currently being considered, while also hinting that the ambitious project could eventually expand into a three-part franchise.

In an interview, Malhotra explained that the original vision for the epic was to develop it as a three-part saga before the filmmakers settled on a two-part structure.

However, the possibility of a third instalment has not been completely ruled out, with the producer suggesting that audience feedback could influence future decisions.

Malhotra also revealed that the team currently has two versions of ‘Ramayana: Part 1’, with different running times, under consideration. The filmmakers are evaluating which version would work best for audiences across international markets.

The preference, he indicated, is to have a single version that appeals to audiences worldwide, rather than creating separate cuts for different territories.

‘Ramayana’, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The two-part cinematic adaptation is among the most ambitious Indian film projects currently in production.
