Farah Khan reveals Akshaye Khanna was once “very difficult” to work with
Farah Khan has revealed that Akshaye Khanna was once “very difficult to work with”, recalling that she avoided choreographing his songs during the 1990s because of his behaviour on set.
Speaking on the Dance Masti podcast hosted by Bosco and Caesar, Khan said her experience working with Khanna on films including ‘Doli Saja Ke Rakhna’ and ‘Laawaris’ left her reluctant to collaborate with him again.
“At one time, Akshaye Khanna used to be very difficult to work with. I have done Doli Saja Ke Rakhna with him, then a couple of other movies, Laawaris and something. He, I think, himself has confessed in interviews that he was very difficult. He was very irritable and wouldn’t want to stand.”
Khan added: “I said if it is Akshaye Khanna’s song, I don’t want to choreograph it.”
Her view changed when she worked with Khanna on Farhan Akhtar’s directorial debut, ‘Dil Chahta Hai’, in 2001. Khan said the actor had undergone a significant change by that point and was more relaxed on set.

“After Dil Chahta Hai, he had a transformation, I think. In Tees Maar Khan, he was too good. He is actually a very good dancer. But I was very clear that I don’t want to work with artists who are irritating.”
Khan also praised Khanna’s dancing in ‘Dil Chahta Hai’, particularly in ‘Koi Kahe Kehta Rahe’, saying he performed better than co-stars Aamir Khan and Saif Ali Khan.
Her comments come as Khanna remains in the spotlight following his acclaimed performance in ‘Dhurandhar’ and renewed attention around his departure from ‘Drishyam 3’.
