Aamir Khan lines up ‘Lalkaara’, eyes ‘3 Idiots’ sequel from April 2027
Aamir Khan is set for a packed production schedule over the next six months, with reports indicating that ‘Lalkaara’ will shoot from October 2026 until March 2027 under the direction of Ashutosh Gowariker. The cricket drama is based on legendary cricketer Lala Amarnath and his role in India’s 1952 Test series against Pakistan.
With ‘Lalkaara’ expected to wrap by March, attention could quickly shift to the long-awaited sequel to ‘3 Idiots’. Reports suggest that filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani is currently developing the script, with Aamir Khan expected to review a draft early next year.
If the screenplay is finalised on schedule, the sequel is expected to roll in April 2027. The project is also reportedly being planned as a reunion of the original cast, including Kareena Kapoor Khan, R. Madhavan and Sharman Joshi.
