Aamir Khan to produce documentary on President Droupadi Murmu
Aamir Khan is set to produce a new documentary tracing the life and rise of President Droupadi Murmu, marking one of the actor‑producer’s most significant non‑fiction projects to date. The film, backed by Aamir Khan Productions, will be directed by filmmaker and writer Svati Chakravarty Bhatkal, known for her work on socially focused storytelling.
The documentary will chart President Murmu’s journey from her early years in rural Odisha to her historic election as India’s first tribal President and the second woman to hold the nation’s highest constitutional office. The project aims to offer a detailed and humanised portrait of her personal challenges, public service, and the broader social context surrounding her ascent.
Filming has already taken place in Murmu’s native village, where local actors have recreated key moments from her early life. The production is expected to blend interviews, archival material and dramatised sequences to present a comprehensive account of her story.
