Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker to collaborate again for Lala Amarnath biopic
Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker are preparing to collaborate once again, 25 years after the release of ‘Lagaan’, this time for a biographical drama centred on Indian cricketing figure Lala Amarnath.
Industry sources indicate that the project is being shaped as a sweeping account of Amarnath’s life and career. Widely regarded as a pioneering figure in Indian cricket, he became the first Indian to score a Test century in 1933 and later captained the national side in the years following Independence. The film is expected to situate his personal and sporting journey against the turbulence of the Partition of 1947, giving the narrative both historical and emotional depth.
Pre‑production is currently under way, with the makers aiming to begin filming in September 2026.
