Aamir Khan asks Rajkumar Hirani to rewrite script for next?

The much-anticipated collaboration between Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani has hit an unexpected pause, as their upcoming biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke faces creative hurdles. Originally slated to begin filming in October 2025, the project is now on hold after Khan reportedly requested a complete rewrite of the script.

Sources close to the production revealed that Khan, known for his meticulous approach, felt the initial draft lacked the emotional depth and signature blend of humour and drama that characterises Hirani’s work. The absence of comedic elements raised concerns about the film’s theatrical appeal, prompting Khan to ask Hirani and co-writer Abhijat Joshi to revisit the narrative.

The decision has left the project in limbo, with Hirani and Joshi now reassessing their creative direction. Meanwhile, Khan is said to be exploring other scripts across industries, as both this biopic and his previously rumoured film with Lokesh Kanagaraj appear to be shelved for the time being.
