Zayn releases fifth studio album ‘Konnakol’

Multi‑platinum recording artist, songwriter, producer and philanthropist Zayn has released his highly anticipated fifth studio album, ‘Konnakol’, via Mercury Records.

‘Konnakol’ marks Zayn’s most culturally rooted project to date. While South Asian vocal and rhythmic influences have long shaped his sound, they take centre stage on this album. The pop‑driven record builds on the musical direction first introduced in his chart‑topping debut, ‘Mind of Mine’. Zayn co‑produced the album with Malay (Frank Ocean, Lorde), with whom he previously collaborated on ‘Mind of Mine’ and ‘Icarus Falls’. The snow leopard featured on the album artwork — a powerful symbol in South Asia — reflects the deep connection to his heritage that informs the project.

The 15‑track album follows the lead singles ‘Die For Me’ and ‘Sideways’, the latter an atmospheric pop‑R&B piece showcasing Zayn’s signature falsetto. Opening track ‘Nusrat’, a tribute to Pakistani legend Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, sets the creative tone for the album, establishing the vocal experimentation and sonic identity that define ‘Konnakol’. The latest single, ‘Side Effects’, leans into polished, radio‑ready pop‑R&B, while ‘Fatal’ introduces a more dance‑driven energy designed for the live stage. ‘Breathe’ offers a gentler, more atmospheric moment within the collection.

To support the release, Zayn will appear on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on 21 April, followed by The Drew Barrymore Show on 23 April. He also launched release week as the cover star of ELLE India, underscoring the global cultural influence behind the album.

Zayn will embark on his largest solo tour to date, The Konnakol Tour, beginning on 12 May 2026 in Manchester. The tour will visit major cities including London, Los Angeles, Mexico City and São Paulo, before concluding on 20 November in Miami. Earlier this year, he completed his first Las Vegas residency, where he previewed unreleased material from the album. His performance drew praise for its refined vocals and strengthened stage presence.

‘Konnakol’ follows the critically acclaimed ‘Room Under the Stairs’ (2024) and his first solo tour across the US, UK and Mexico. Most recently, Zayn collaborated with BLACKPINK’s Jisoo on ‘Eyes Closed’, which earned an iHeartRadio Music Award nomination and achieved significant global chart success.
