Official trailer of Sunny Deol’s ‘Batwara 1947’

The trailer of ‘Batwara 1947’ has been released, giving the industry its first full look at Rajkumar Santoshi’s Partition‑era epic backed by Aamir Khan Productions. The film brings together Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta and Shabana Azmi, with the promo setting a sombre, large‑canvas tone rooted in displacement, identity and the human cost of the 1947 divide.

The trailer positions Deol at the centre of the narrative, playing a man caught between duty and survival as violence engulfs the region. Zinta returns to the screen in a dramatic role shaped by loss and resilience, while Azmi anchors the emotional core of the story with her portrayal of a woman fighting to keep her family together. The visuals lean heavily on period authenticity, showcasing crowded refugee camps, fractured communities and the chaos of migration.

Santoshi’s direction signals a return to his expansive historical storytelling, with the trailer highlighting sweeping frames, high‑stakes drama and a score designed to heighten the film’s emotional weight. The project is being positioned as a major Independence Day release, with the trailer already driving strong conversation across trade circles.

‘Batwara 1947’ releases on 14th August 2026.
