In Video: First winner of ‘India Ke Top 1%’ Bijal Shah talks to BizAsia

Bijal Shah, a chartered accountant and mother to a one-year-old son, has made history by becoming the first-ever grand winner of Star Plus and JioHotstar’s game show ‘India Ke Top 1%’, hosted by Anil Kapoor. Shah walked away with a jackpot prize of ₹94 lakh.
Appearing on the show alongside her husband, Neelay Mehta, Shah maintained remarkable composure throughout the intense rounds. When faced with the final high-stakes decision—whether to walk away with ₹10 lakh or risk it all for the grand prize—she chose to rely on her analytical skill and instincts.
Bijal spoke to BizAsia’s Raj Baddhan and said, “Initially, when I saw the final question, my mind went blank for a few seconds. Then I looked for patterns in the letters, and it suddenly clicked. Once you recognize the pattern, confidence takes over.”

Despite initial playfulness over their competitive dynamic, Shah credited her husband as her biggest supporter once his own stint on the show concluded. She also attributed her strong analytical skills to years of encouragement from her mother to participate in Olympiads, her demanding career as a CA, and the solid support system provided by her in-laws.
“I truly believe my son is my lucky charm,” Shah said, reflecting on her win. “Without family support, none of this would have been possible”. Shah plans to use part of her winnings to embark on a world tour with her family.
