Star Plus reportedly preparing Hindi remake of Star Jalsha’s ‘Professor Bidya Banerjee’

Star Plus is reportedly developing a Hindi remake of Star Jalsha’s hit Bengali series ‘Professor Bidya Banerjee’, with the adaptation expected to be produced by Blues Productions, the team behind the original. Although the channel has not issued an official confirmation, industry sources suggest the project is in active discussion.

The timing of the remake aligns with Star Plus’s broader internal changes, as the channel is revamping several time slots following a recent dip in ratings. Introducing a strong, character‑driven drama is seen as part of its strategy to refresh the schedule and strengthen weekday performance.

The original series follows Bidya Banerjee, a brilliant, no‑nonsense anatomy professor who commands absolute authority in her classroom. Known for her sharp intellect and zero tolerance for misconduct, she maintains strict discipline by day. Outside the college, however, she transforms into a fearless justice‑seeker, using her deep anatomical knowledge to confront wrongdoers with precise, lesson‑driven force — often “breaking bones” while delivering moral lectures.

A Hindi adaptation would continue Star Plus’s trend of reimagining successful regional dramas for a national audience, particularly those led by strong, unconventional female protagonists.
