Sunrise Radio wins Radio Station of the Year award
Sunrise Radio has walked away with two awards at the British Asian Media Awards 2025, held in London at the Dilly Hotel last Thursday, 27th February.
The station was awarded Radio Station of the Year, meanwhile the station’s Managing Director, Tony Lit MBE won Interview of the Year for his conversation with former British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak ahead of last year’s General Election.
Tony Lit MBE, MD Sunrise Radio, says, “It’s a real honour and privilege to receive these two Awards at the Aqiva British Asian Media Awards 2025. Radio Station of the Year is always a very competitive category, so I’m grateful to my industry peers for awarding this accolade to Sunrise Radio in what is a very special year, being our 35th Anniversary. So just the biggest thank you to Sunrise listeners, our Commercial Partners, and my hard-working team. I also have to say that winning the Interview of the Year was a super special moment as it was a first for British Asian Media in securing an exclusive interview with sitting PM Rishi Sunak at Number 10 Downing Street in May 2024. During this interview, the British Asian community was privi to the back story of a British Asian who went on to become the UK’s first Asian and the UK’s first person of colour Prime Minister.
