Farhan Akhtar to play RD Burman in biopic helmed by Neeraj Pandey?

Farhan Akhtar is reportedly in discussions to take on the role of legendary composer R.D. Burman in a forthcoming biopic, with filmmaker Neeraj Pandey developing the project. While an official announcement has yet to be made, industry sources suggest the talks are at an advanced stage, signalling strong interest from both sides.

The film, which has been in development for some time, aims to chronicle the life and musical legacy of Burman, affectionately known as Pancham Da — whose work transformed the soundscape of Hindi cinema from the 1960s through the 1980s. According to reports, the makers have already secured rights to several of his iconic tracks, ensuring that the composer’s music will form an integral part of the narrative.

A source quoted in industry coverage said, “Farhan Akhtar is in talks to play the legendary composer and is extremely excited about the prospect of bringing Pancham Da’s journey to the big screen. If all goes according to plan, he will undergo extensive preparation to get into the skin of the character.”
