Mumbai Police directs actor Imran Khan to leave India by October-end
Imran Khan has reportedly been directed to leave India by 28 October after Mumbai Police issued him a notice under provisions of the Immigration Act. The development follows his participation in a CJP-led protest in the city earlier this month, which also resulted in his detention by police.
According to reports, questions were raised regarding Khan’s citizenship status after he attended the protest at August Kranti Maidan, where demonstrators were demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. His participation subsequently sparked public debate and scrutiny.
The notice directs Khan to leave the country by 28th October. The actor was among those detained by police during the protest before being released.
