Anushka Asthana joins Channel 4 News presenting line-up

Anushka Asthana is joining the presenting line-up at Channel 4 News, expanding her role at the broadcaster while continuing as its US Editor.

Asthana, who is based in Washington DC, will take on additional presenting duties and return to the UK to cover presenters when required.

She has extensive experience reporting on British and American politics, including major elections, political developments and interviews with leading figures. She also co-hosts Channel 4 News’ weekly ‘TrumpWorld’ podcast alongside Matt Frei, examining the Trump presidency through interviews, reporting and analysis.

Esme Wren, Editor of Channel 4 News, said, “Anushka is an outstanding journalist whose reporting and sharp interviewing have already made a real impact as our US Editor. We’re delighted she’s joining our presenting team while continuing to bring her insight and expertise to our coverage of American politics.”

Asthana said, “I’m really excited to be joining the Channel 4 News presenting team alongside my role as US Editor. At a time when there is so much happening in Britain and around the world, the need for independent journalism that asks difficult questions and holds power to account has never felt more important. Channel 4 News has always been a place where journalists can do exactly that, and I’m delighted to be taking on this new role.”

Asthana joins the presenting roster alongside Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Jackie Long and Matt Frei.

Guru-Murthy remains the programme’s main anchor, while Frei continues to lead coverage of major international stories. Long will continue presenting from locations across the UK alongside her reporting on social affairs.

The appointment reflects Channel 4 News’ continued focus on political reporting and its coverage of major UK and international developments.
