Kanshi TV still showing Yash Raj Films titles without broadcast rights?
Nearly a year after BizAsiaLive.com first reported the story, Birmingham‑based community broadcaster Kanshi TV continues to air major Hindi film titles, prompting fresh questions over whether the channel holds the official broadcast rights. The free‑to‑air service has recently shown several Yash Raj Films titles, despite the catalogue belonging to JioStar, the parent company of Star Gold and Colors Cineplex.
According to its Sky EPG listings, Kanshi TV has aired ‘Chandni’, ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’, ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’, ‘Kabhi Kabhie’, ‘Mujhse Dosti Karoge’ and ‘Veer Zaara’, with ‘Darr’ and ‘Bunty Aur Babli’ scheduled this week.
A number of non‑YRF films have also been flagged in earlier coverage. BizAsiaLive.com previously questioned whether Kanshi TV held rights to ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ (2018), ‘Amar Prem’ (1972), ‘Saajan’ (1991), ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’ (2019) and ‘Zameer’ (1975). Industry sources indicate these titles belong to other broadcasters.
