Kanshi TV found in breach of Ofcom rules for potentially harmful claims

Kanshi TV has been found in breach of Ofcom’s broadcasting rules after airing an astrology programme that included claims judged to be potentially harmful. The episode of ‘Jyotish aur Ayurved Amrit’, broadcast in July 2025, prompted a complaint alleging that the show offered misleading advice and appeared to promote the guest’s commercial services.

In its response, Kanshi TV said it had suspended the programme while Ofcom carried out its investigation. The broadcaster added that it would only consider airing the show again if it received firm assurances from the programme provider that all content would fully comply with the Ofcom Broadcasting Code. It also stressed that it had no commercial arrangement with Jyotish Amrit Mata and had not received any payment or benefit related to the promotion of products, services or on‑screen contact details.

Ofcom noted the additional compliance measures the channel has since introduced for content of this nature. However, it concluded that Kanshi TV had failed to apply generally accepted standards to ensure viewers were adequately protected from potentially harmful material. The regulator also found that the broadcaster had not demonstrated independent editorial control over the programme, despite its commitment to strengthening oversight procedures.

As a result, Ofcom ruled that Kanshi TV was in serious breach of four broadcasting rules.
