Four Asian broadcasters found in breach of Ofcom rules for late payments
Ofcom has found several broadcast licensees in breach of their licence conditions after failing to pay their annual licence fees by the required deadline.
Among them were two Leicester-based Asian community radio stations, Kohinoor Radio and Eava FM, which were included among 15 radio licensees that did not pay their annual licence fees within the specified timeframe. Although the outstanding fees were eventually settled following receipt of Ofcom’s Preliminary View, the stations were nevertheless found to be in breach of Condition 3(2) of their respective licences.
In its representations to the regulator, Kohinoor Radio stated that it had not received any invoices prior to the matter being raised.

Separately, Takbeer TV also failed to pay its annual licence fee by the required deadline. The payment was subsequently made after the broadcaster received Ofcom’s Preliminary View.
In addition, A1 Global TV and A1 TV failed to pay their annual licence fees in accordance with the terms of their licences. As a result, both licensees have been found in breach of Conditions 4(1) and 4(2) of their respective licences.
