Vikram Bhatt and wife Shwetambari arrested in Rs. 30-crore fraud case
Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt and his wife Shwetambari Bhatt have been arrested in connection with an alleged Rs. 30‑crore fraud case. The arrest was carried out in Mumbai by Rajasthan police, who are investigating claims that the couple, along with several associates, defrauded Udaipur‑based IVF specialist Dr Ajay Murdia, founder of the Indira Group of Companies.
According to reports, the case involves promises of high returns linked to a proposed project, which ultimately led to the doctor being cheated of a substantial sum. Authorities had earlier issued lookout notices against the couple and others named in the complaint.
Following their detention, police are expected to seek a transit remand from the Bandra court to transfer the duo to Udaipur for further questioning. Medical examinations have also been conducted as part of the legal process.
The case has attracted significant attention, not only because of Bhatt’s standing in the film industry but also due to the scale of the alleged fraud. Investigations are ongoing, with more details expected to emerge in the coming days.
