Soho House accused of relabelling out-of-date food as fresh

Soho House is investigating allegations relating to food labelling practices at its Shoreditch House venue in east London after a former employee raised concerns about food safety procedures.

The matter is also being reviewed by Hackney Council, which confirmed it has opened an investigation after receiving a complaint concerning food safety and hygiene at the venue.

According to reports, former employee Kamran Khan alleged that food labels were altered to display later preparation and expiry dates. He said he raised the issue internally before reporting it to the local authority.

In a statement reported by multiple outlets, Soho House apologised for what it described as an “isolated food labelling incident” and said relabelling out-of-date food is not company policy. The company also stated that the employee’s contract termination was unrelated to the food labelling complaint.

No findings have yet been announced by either Hackney Council or Soho House, and the investigations remain ongoing.
