GTC Punjabi defies SGPC’s legal notice; continues with Gurbani from Golden Temple
Rabindra Narayan, founder and managing director of GTC Network, has released a second video statement in response to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee’s (SGPC) legal notice over the Gurbani telecast from the Golden Temple.
Narayan reiterated that GTC Punjabi has been relaying Gurbani by sourcing SGPC’s official YouTube feed, which he argued is publicly accessible. He stressed that the intention was to extend the reach of Gurbani to devotees worldwide. “With folded hands, I humbly urge the SGPC not to interrupt it on GTC as it was done with an intention for wider reach of the Gurbani to devotees all over the globe. It would not be appropriate to discontinue it as it would bring great disappointment to vast audience of the GTC,” he said.
In the caption accompanying the video, Narayan directly addressed SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami: “Respected President, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami Ji 🙏 Out of your respect, we stopped broadcasting the evening Gurbani for a while. But then our phones won’t stop ringing. From England, from Canada, from America, from Australia — Sangat all over the world asked the same question: ‘Where did Darbar Sahib visit go?’ We lost in front of the hunger of Sangat’s Gurbani. Had to restart the broadcast. We have received your legal notice. You go to court, go to the police, send me to jail – I’ll fold my hands and bow my head. But it is not in my power to stop the demand of Gurbani of Sangat. Today Gurbani is echoing through GTC on every Samsung TV, every Android mobile, every OTT platform. How do we make a stop to this? We request you with folded hands — let us serve this service with full respect. We are holding your hands strong, expanding your mission of evangelism. Have a big heart, President. Don’t be angry. Be happy that Gurbani is reaching every door. 🙏 Servant of Guru Panth.”
Narayan also highlighted the widespread sharing of SGPC’s digital feed: “This morning, I noticed that around 973 times the Gurbani link was shared through SGPC’s digital platform. It meant that this was being done for long. We take it as a positive signal and did the same to which the SGPC has raised objections which was not fair.”

The SGPC maintains that all Gurbani telecast rights from Sri Darbar Sahib rest exclusively with the committee and its authorised partners, and has served a legal notice to GTC Network. SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami confirmed that rebroadcasting the YouTube stream without permission constitutes a breach of rights.
