GTC Punjabi flags SGPC over daily blackouts while PTC Punjabi’s stream stays clean
The dispute over telecast rights for Shabad Gurbani from Sri Harmandir Sahib has intensified, with GTC Punjabi accusing the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) of allowing technical disruptions on its official YouTube feed while PTC Punjabi continues to receive a clean signal.
Since 15 August, SGPC’s public digital stream from Sachkhand Sri Darbar Sahib has repeatedly shown black frames and muted audio. GTC Punjabi claims the interruptions have occurred daily for more than a week and says it has preserved dated recordings as evidence. At the same time, the identical Gurbani telecast on PTC Punjabi has remained uninterrupted, raising questions about whether SGPC’s feed is being deliberately degraded.
In a formal letter, GTC Punjabi has asked SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami to explain why the disruptions occur, who authorised them, and why PTC Punjabi’s transmission remains unaffected. The broadcaster has demanded an independent technical audit of the entire system and preservation of all encoder and server logs to ensure the record cannot be altered.

GTC Punjabi argues that Gurbani is sarab‑sanjhi belonging to all and should not effectively become the preserve of one commercial broadcaster. It has offered to install new broadcast equipment at its own cost if SGPC claims it cannot identify or rectify the fault. The letter warns that if SGPC rejects the assistance and the disruptions continue, it will be difficult to attribute the problem merely to technical error.
The sharpest question raised is whether SGPC’s own picture should suffer while PTC Punjabi’s remains perfectly clean. GTC Punjabi says all video evidence has been preserved and reserves the right to pursue legal and Panthic remedies if SGPC fails to respond within seven days.
