Goa Police register unnatural death case following Nana Patekar’s death

Goa Police have registered an unnatural death case following the death of veteran actor Nana Patekar, with an inquiry underway to establish the circumstances surrounding his demise.

According to police records, Panaji Police received a call from Manipal Hospital in Bambolim on Thursday morning, informing them that Patekar had been brought to the hospital from his residence in Dona Paula and was declared dead.

The case has been registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), with police initiating inquest proceedings as part of the investigation.

A senior police officer said the death appeared to be the result of a cardiac arrest, although the exact cause would be established following the post-mortem report.

The registration of an unnatural death case is a procedural step to investigate the circumstances of a death and does not, in itself, indicate foul play. Further enquiries are ongoing.
