Nana Patekar passes away; aged 75

Veteran actor Nana Patekar has died aged 75.

Patekar passed away in Goa on Thursday morning after suffering a cardiac arrest at his residence. He was found unconscious and rushed to Manipal Hospital, where doctors attempted to revive him for around 45 minutes.

Known for his powerful performances across Hindi and Marathi cinema, Patekar enjoyed a career spanning nearly five decades, with acclaimed films including ‘Parinda’, ‘Krantiveer’, ‘Agni Sakshi’, ‘Ab Tak Chhappan’, ‘Natsamrat’ and ‘Welcome’. His last theatrical appearance was in Shahid Kapoor’s ‘O Romeo’ released earlier this year.

He was a three-time National Film Award winner and was awarded the Padma Shri in 2013 for his contribution to cinema and the arts.
