Delhi HC allows GTC Punjabi to continue Gurbani telecast amid SGPC dispute

The Delhi High Court has permitted GTC Punjabi to continue broadcasting Gurbani, declining to grant the interim stay sought by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and PTC. The order allows the channel to maintain its telecast of the Golden Temple’s daily prayers while the legal dispute proceeds.

The petitioners had asked the court to halt GTC Punjabi’s re‑broadcast of the SGPC feed, arguing that the channel was not authorised to relay the content. The court refused to stop the transmission at this stage, noting that statutory exemptions may apply and that the channel does not charge viewers for access to the Gurbani telecast.

The matter will now return to the Delhi High Court on 28 August 2026, when the next hearing is scheduled. Until then, GTC Punjabi’s Gurbani broadcast remains uninterrupted, marking a significant development in the ongoing dispute between SGPC, PTC and GTC Punjabi over rights and distribution of the daily feed.
