Salman Khan issues legal notice to makers of ‘Kala Hiran’ over similarities with black-buck case

Salman Khan has issued a legal notice to the producers of the forthcoming film ‘Kala Hiran’, alleging unauthorised use of his likeness and indirect references to the 1998 blackbuck poaching case. The notice, sent through his legal team, demands that the filmmakers immediately halt all promotional activity and suspend the release of the film.

According to the notice, the actor objects to what his lawyers describe as a violation of personality rights, including the use of imagery and thematic elements that appear to draw directly from his long‑running legal case. The document also states that the film’s promotional poster features a bracelet resembling one associated with Khan, which his team argues could mislead the public into believing the film is connected to him.

The notice calls for the producers to cease production, withdraw all publicity material, and refrain from releasing any further content until the matter is resolved. It also warns that failure to comply may result in further legal action.

Producer Amit Jani has rejected the allegations, describing the notice as an attempt at “intimidation” and insisting that the film is not based on Khan. He maintains that ‘Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy’ is a fictional work and that the team intends to proceed with its planned promotional schedule.

The dispute places the film’s release in uncertainty, with its teaser—originally expected this month—now subject to legal review.
