JioStar expresses interest to exit ICC media rights deal

Entertainment powerhouse JioStar is preparing to walk away from its ICC India media rights agreement, despite being only halfway through the four‑year contract.

The company has formally informed cricket’s governing body that it cannot fulfil the remaining two years of the deal due to mounting financial pressures. The contract, originally set to run until 2027, had been valued at $3 billion for the 2024–27 cycle, with a major men’s tournament scheduled each year.

In response, the ICC has launched a fresh bidding process for the 2026–29 rights, with expectations of raising around $2.4 billion. Industry insiders suggest that the organisation has already opened discussions with Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI), Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video as potential successors to JioStar.
