JioStar, the recently formed joint venture with the merger of Viacom18 and Star India, announced the launch of JioHotstar
Bringing together JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar, two of India’s top streaming platforms, this merger creates a powerhouse for premium sports, entertainment, and more. Combining extensive content, advanced features, and a massive user and subscriber base, it marks a groundbreaking moment in the global streaming industry. With nearly 3 lakh hours of entertainment, unmatched live sports coverage, and over 50 crore users, JioHotstar is set to revolutionise entertainment and unlock endless possibilities for audiences.

Speaking on the launch of JioHotstar, Kiran Mani, CEO – Digital, JioStar said, “At the core of JioHotstar is a powerful vision—to make premium entertainment truly accessible to all Indians. JioHotstar will offer a range of entertainment options, including shows, movies, and live sports, with both free and subscription-based access. Users can watch content without a subscription, while those seeking an uninterrupted experience can choose from various paid plans starting at Rs. 149. Existing JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar subscribers will be able to transition smoothly to JioHotstar.
The platform will provide a diverse content library catering to audiences across 10 languages. It will include TV programming, original series, reality shows, blockbuster films, anime, and international premieres. JioHotstar will also feature Hollywood content from Disney, NBCUniversal Peacock, Warner Bros. Discovery HBO, and Paramount, offering a broad selection of global entertainment in one place.
With a mix of Indian and international content, along with extensive sports coverage, JioHotstar aims to bring a wide range of viewing choices to its audience.
Additionally, the platform introduces ‘Sparks’, a flagship initiative spotlighting India’s biggest digital creator through innovative and engaging formats.
