Jio Studios opts out of ‘Brahmastra 2’?
Jio Studios has reportedly exited ‘Brahmastra 2’, with industry sources indicating that discussions between the makers and the studio did not progress to a formal partnership. As a result, the sequel is currently without a confirmed backer while Ayan Mukerji continues development under Starlight Pictures.
The shift marks another change in the franchise’s studio alignment. Star Studios, a key collaborator on the first instalment, is reportedly not returning for the second film. Dharma Productions is also no longer involved, while YRF is understood to have explored the project but ultimately declined.
Despite uncertainty around backing, production planning remains underway. Ranbir Kapoor is expected to begin filming in April 2027, following ‘Ramayana Part 2’, with reports suggesting he will portray both Shiva and Dev. Deepika Padukone is poised to return as Amrita, with Alia Bhatt expected to feature in a smaller capacity.
