FWICE withdraws non‑cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh following legal notice

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has withdrawn its non‑cooperation directive against actor Ranveer Singh, a day after the star issued a legal notice challenging the body’s authority to intervene in his departure from ‘Don 3’.

The directive, announced on 25 May, had advised all affiliated unions not to work on any project featuring the actor. FWICE claimed at the time that Singh had failed to attend meetings arranged to address a complaint from the producers, who alleged financial losses following his exit from the film.

At a press conference held in Mumbai on Wednesday, FWICE Chief Advisor Ashoke Pandit confirmed that the organisation had decided to drop the action after receiving a formal legal notice from Singh’s representatives.

“The legal letter came to us yesterday and it was requesting us to remove the non‑cooperation directive,” Pandit said. He added that FWICE’s legal team would respond formally to the notice in due course.

Pandit also appealed for dialogue, saying, “We appeal to Ranveer to come and sit with us and find a solution. We celebrate his stardom… We don’t have any authority to ban anyone. We are hopeful that there will be a positive reaction from Ranveer.”

Singh exited ‘Don 3’, directed by Farhan Akhtar, following the release of ‘Dhurandhar’ in December. The dispute escalated when FWICE publicly announced its non‑cooperation directive last month, prompting the actor to challenge the decision through legal channels.

With the directive now withdrawn, the matter is expected to move into a legal and administrative review phase, as both sides await further correspondence between their respective teams.
