Puja Entertainment-Tips Music rights row intensifies after court filing in Bihar
Tips Music Limited has issued a firm response after learning that Puja Entertainment has filed a suit before the Civil Judge (Senior Division) in Katihar, Bihar, challenging the label’s use of certain film‑music rights. In a public statement, Tips made clear that it regards the contested material as its own, citing long‑standing contractual arrangements between the two companies.
The disagreement centres on the commercial use of music and associated intellectual property from titles within Puja Entertainment’s catalogue. Tips stated that it is the “lawful owner of the music rights in question,” asserting that the agreements underpinning its position are both valid and binding. The company also noted that it has exercised these rights “openly and legitimately” for nearly three decades.
Puja Entertainment recently secured interim protection from the Katihar court, alleging unauthorised exploitation of its film and music assets. Tips has rejected the allegations in full, disputing both the substance of the claims and the implication that its long‑term use of the catalogue lacked legal authority.
The matter now proceeds through the judicial process, with further hearings expected as both parties continue to defend their respective positions.
