Four community radio stations given grants by Ofcom
Ofcom has announced the latest round of allocations from the Community Radio Fund for the 2025–2026 financial year, with more than one million pounds awarded to community radio stations across the UK.
The Community Radio Fund Panel met over two days in January to review 115 applications, which collectively sought almost three million pounds in support. After assessing each bid against the fund’s criteria, 47 stations were granted funding, while 68 applications were unsuccessful.
Among the successful recipients were four Asian community radio stations. Asian Community Radio in Milton Keynes received £18,000 for a Fundraising & Sponsorship Manager, while Radio Panj in Coventry was awarded £34,000 to support roles in Business Development and Audience Development. Derby‑based Radio Ikhlas secured £21,333 for a Business Development Officer, and Ambur Radio in Walsall was granted £18,739 for a Volunteer & Development Manager.

Media Minister, Ian Murray, said, “Community radio stations are at the heart of hundreds of local communities in the UK. Not only do they showcase locally-produced content, but they keep people connected and informed about their area.
“That is why I am delighted that our increased funding is helping nearly 50 stations across all four nations. This support will ensure they can continue to grow, create more jobs and reach even more listeners.”
