BBC India offices raided by tax officials after Narendra Modi documentary

The offices of BBC in New Delhi and Mumbai have been raided by income tax authorities, just days after a controversial documentary about Narendra Modi was aired in the UK.

A statement by the BBC said, “The income tax authorities are currently at the BBC offices in New Delhi and Mumbai and we are fully cooperating. We hope to have this situation resolved as soon as possible.”

The documentary titled ‘India: The Modi Question’ was banned to be aired and streamed in India. Furthermore, social media posts relating the documentary were also censored heavily by India regulators.

The documentary revolves around Modi during the ‘Gujarat Riots’ in 2002. At the time, he was Chief Minister of the state.
