ZEE Network has acquired the Hindi rights for this year’s ICC Cricket World Cup for the UK and Europe territories.

The forthcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 takes place in Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka from 19th February, to 2nd April 2011 and will be broadcast live in Hindi on ZEE Cafe.

The tournament, which happens every four years, is the pinnacle of achievement in the sport, and it is fitting for it to be broadcast live on ZEE Cafe.

“ZEE has been steadfast in its commitment to ensuring major cricket tournaments are broadcast in the UK; broadcasting the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 is of utmost importance for us to continue to serve our loyal subscribers and cricket followers. What’s more Zee Family caters for all South Asians, and we are delighted to televise matches from all three of the host nations – India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, particularly as our Bengali shows on ZEE Cafe are proving extremely popular with Bangladeshis,” said Govind Shahi, Head of Business for ZEE Network, Europe.

ZEE will broadcast 37 of the total 49 matches from the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 with Hindi commentary live on ZEE Cafe.

To mark the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, the ZEE Cafe logo has been customised and will be used on all marketing material for the duration of the tournament.
