YRF Entertainment returns with ‘Tunnel Men’, inspired by 2023 Uttarakhand rescue

YRF Entertainment is moving ahead with its next prestige drama, ‘Tunnel Men’, a new series inspired by the high‑profile 2023 rescue of 41 workers trapped inside the collapsed Silkyara tunnel in Uttarakhand. The project marks the studio’s latest long‑form venture following the success of ‘The Railway Men’, continuing its partnership with Netflix.

The series is being directed by Ambiecka Pandit and Manan Rawat, with Shiv Rawail returning as showrunner. YRF is positioning ‘Tunnel Men’ as a large‑scale human‑interest drama rooted in real events, with the narrative centred on the multi‑agency operation that captured national and international attention during the 17‑day rescue effort.

The project underscores YRF’s strategy of building a slate of grounded, event‑driven stories for streaming, leveraging its production infrastructure to mount high‑intensity dramas with strong ensemble casts. ‘Tunnel Men’ is expected to follow a similar production model to ‘The Railway Men’, combining extensive research with a cinematic treatment designed for global audiences.

Netflix will handle worldwide distribution, giving the series a broad platform ahead of its 2027 rollout. Production is expected to begin later this year.
