Varun Dhawan’s ‘Hai Jawani To Ishq Hona Hai’ reverts back to original release date after ‘Toxic’ delay
Varun Dhawan’s upcoming film ‘Hai Jawani To Ishq Hona Hai’ has undergone several release‑date changes in recent weeks, but has now reverted to its original June schedule.
The comedy, directed by David Dhawan, was initially slated for release on 5th June. It was later brought forward to avoid a box‑office clash with Yash’s action thriller ‘Toxic’. However, with ‘Toxic’ now postponed indefinitely, the makers of ‘Hai Jawani To Ishq Hona Hai’ have restored the film to its earlier June date. This shift also means the film will no longer compete with Dharma Productions’ ‘Chand Mera Dil’, which is set for release on 22nd May.
Meanwhile, ‘Toxic’ has been delayed until further notice. Announcing the decision, Yash — who has co‑written and produced the film, said, “There are films we make, and then there are films that remind us why we fell in love with cinema. ‘Toxic’ has been one such journey.” Reflecting on the film’s recent showcase, he added, “Presenting our film at CinemaCon and witnessing the overwhelming global response reaffirmed what we have always believed – that this film deserves to reach its fullest potential worldwide.”

Yash confirmed that the film is complete but that the team is now working to secure international distribution. “‘Toxic’ is complete, and we are currently aligning global distribution and partnerships. In light of this, we have decided to recalibrate our release timeline,” he said. “While we will not be releasing on June 4 as announced earlier, we will be releasing at a later, globally aligned date.”
