Star Plus brand set to return to UK imminently?

Speculation is mounting that Star TV may be preparing to reintroduce the Star Plus brand in the UK, following confirmation that Disney will retire the ‘Star’ label from its English-language service later this month, with Hulu taking its place.
For context, Disney acquired the Star brand in 2019 through its purchase of assets from News Corp, subsequently adopting it as its international entertainment banner. In overseas markets, Hulu Originals were rebranded as Star Originals. To avoid brand confusion in the UK, Disney’s Hindi entertainment channels, Star Plus, Star Gold, and Star Bhara, were renamed under the Utsav umbrella.
Since then, the Star TV channels have been integrated into JioStar, while Disney’s general entertainment content, such as drama series and adult-oriented titles, has transitioned to the Hulu tile. These changes will officially take effect on Wednesday 8th October, when Hulu becomes the global general entertainment brand on Disney+, replacing Star internationally.
