AR Rahman & Hans Zimmer confirmed for Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’

Two of the world’s most celebrated composers, AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer, are collaborating for the first time on the soundtrack of ‘Ramayana’, an ambitious cinematic retelling of the Indian epic, produced by Namit Malhotra and directed by Nitesh Tiwari.

The film, set 5,000 years in the past, promises to be a visual and musical spectacle, blending Indian mythology with cutting-edge global production. Rahman and Zimmer, both Academy Award winners, are crafting a score designed to resonate with international audiences while remaining rooted in cultural authenticity.

Malhotra recently shared a rare photograph of himself with the two composers, celebrating Zimmer’s birthday and expressing excitement over their collaboration. He described the partnership as “magical,” noting the significance of bringing together such extraordinary talent for a project of this scale.

‘Ramayana’ stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. The film will be released in two parts, with Part 1 slated for Diwali 2026 and Part 2 in Diwali 2027, both in IMAX format
