Sony Pictures Networks India appoints Mukund Acharya as CTO

Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has today announced the appointment of Mukund Acharya as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

In this role, Acharya will oversee the company’s technology functions, including Enterprise Technology, LIV Technology, and Broadcast Operations. He will lead efforts in digital transformation and align technology strategies with business goals across SPNI’s TV and digital platforms.

Acharya has nearly 30 years of experience in technology leadership. He joins SPNI from Disney+ Hotstar (now JioStar), where he was Head of Engineering. There, he worked on major projects, including the integration of JioCinema and Hotstar, and managed technology for major sports events such as the ICC World Cups from 2023 to 2025.

He has also held senior roles at companies like Yahoo and InMobi.

Acharya will report to Gaurav Banerjee, Managing Director and CEO of SPNI, and will work closely with the Sony LIV leadership team.
