Rahul Roy hits back at trolls over a music video with content creator
Actor Rahul Roy has addressed a wave of online trolling that followed the circulation of a recent music‑video style reel featuring him alongside a content creator. The clips, which quickly went viral, prompted a mixture of concern, criticism and mockery from social‑media users.
In a detailed statement shared on Instagram, the ‘Aashiqui’ star pushed back against the negative commentary and explained the circumstances behind his involvement. Roy stated that he undertakes such work to support himself financially, particularly in light of ongoing legal matters that began before the brain stroke he suffered in 2020. He wrote that those who ridicule his “simplicity” or personal challenges reveal more about themselves than about him, adding that if people were genuinely concerned, they could help him secure “genuine and decent work”.
Roy also emphasised the importance of remaining active following his health setback, noting that continuing to work provides him with purpose and aids his recovery. His message drew widespread support from fans and colleagues within the industry.
The actor later clarified that he had not initially intended to participate in the viral reel, describing it as a “compulsion”, and indicated that he would not repeat the experience.
