Sikh Channel urges viewers for donations to secure future

The Sikh Channel is seeking financial support from viewers to secure its future.

In a special announcement made on Sunday, the team of Sikh Channel went live on-air informing viewers that its only studio based in Birmingham was set to close due to spiraling costs. Davinder Singh Bal, the founder of Sikh Channel, was joined in the studio by fellow presenters, along with viewers.

The channel said the monthly rental cost for its studio had increased to £55,000 per month, which made it commercial unviable. It had received a notice from the landlord to vacate the studio on 4th January 2023. Its studio will be closing on 31st January 2023.

The Sikh Channel launched in 2009 and has been broadcasting live studio shows from Birmingham, as well as library content. It is available on Sky EPG 768.
