Producer of ‘Drishyam 3’ brands Akshaye Khanna “toxic” after actor walks out of film
The producer of ‘Drishyam 3’ is reportedly considering legal action against actor Akshaye Khanna following his decision to withdraw from the film. Producer Kumar Mangat Pathak has expressed dissatisfaction with the manner of Khanna’s exit, describing his conduct as “toxic” and raising concerns about professionalism and the disruption caused to the production schedule.
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Pathak explained“We had signed an agreement with Akshaye Khanna. His fee was finalised after extensive renegotiations from his side. He insisted on wearing a wig, but director Abhishek Pathak explained that it would not be practical, as it would create continuity issues in a sequel like Drishyam 3.”
Pathak continued“He accepted this reasoning and agreed to drop the request. However, those around him later advised him that he would look better with a wig, so he raised the demand again. Abhishek was willing to revisit the discussion, but shortly afterwards Akshaye informed us that he no longer wished to be part of the film.”
He added further, “There was a time when Akshaye had no work. That’s when I made Section 375 (2019) with him, despite many people warning us about his unprofessional behaviour. His energy on set is extremely toxic. Section 375 brought him recognition, and later I cast him in Drishyam 2 (2022). All the major offers he has received came after Drishyam 2. Before that, he had been sitting at home for three to four years.”

Pathak also stated, “I have suffered losses because of his behaviour. I intend to file a lawsuit. He has not responded to the legal notice I sent him. I was shocked. Drishyam 3 begins exactly where Drishyam 2 ended — how can his character suddenly have hair? Is there any technology in the world that can make hair grow within minutes?”
Despite the dispute, the makers of ‘Drishyam 3’ have confirmed that the film will proceed, with revised casting expected to be announced in due course.
