Phantom Studios sue JioStar for Rs 250 crore over ‘Queen 2’ IP
Phantom Studios has filed a Rs 250 crore lawsuit against JioStar in the Bombay High Court, alleging that the upcoming film ‘Queen 2’ has been made without proper rights.
The studio says it owns 50% of the intellectual property for the original Queen and never authorised a sequel, adaptation or derivative project. Despite issuing warnings and a public notice earlier this year, Phantom claims JioStar went ahead and completed filming, prompting legal action.

The sequel, directed by Vikas Bahl and starring Kangana Ranaut, is reportedly in post‑production. Phantom argues that the project infringes on its ownership stake and that JioStar proceeded without consent from all rights holders. The case is now awaiting further hearings, with both sides expected to present detailed arguments over the coming weeks.
