Kriti Sanon on ‘Cocktail 2’: “It is not a lesbian love story”
Kriti Sanon has addressed the speculation surrounding ‘Cocktail 2’, making it clear that the film is not a lesbian love story and does not feature the storyline that online chatter has suggested. With the film releasing in cinemas this weekend, the actress said the assumptions circulating on social media were far from the truth.
Speaking during promotions, Kriti stated plainly, “It is not a lesbian love story.” She went on to add: “There is no physical threesome.”
Her co‑star Rashmika Mandanna, who appears alongside Kriti and Shahid Kapoor in the sequel, responded with humour when asked about their on‑screen dynamic. “But we do have that chemistry,” she joked, before urging audiences to judge the film for themselves: “Watch the film, guys. You will enjoy.”
The speculation had suggested that the sequel centred on a same‑sex relationship between the two actresses, with Shahid’s character entering the equation. Both stars have now dismissed that interpretation, emphasising that the film’s emotional tension has been misread.

Kriti explained that the story revolves around complex relationships but not in the way people have assumed, saying it is “an emotional film” built around the choices and vulnerabilities of its three leads.
‘Cocktail 2’, the follow‑up to the 2012 hit ‘Cocktail’, arrives in cinemas this weekend, with the cast encouraging viewers to experience the film rather than rely on online theories.
